SKIRTING BOARDS: HOW TO IMPROVE WITHOUT REPLACING (PART 1)

We all have read one article or two with regards to skirting boards and how they can make or break a design. The internet is full of it, from how to strip and paint them when the old paint has seen better days, to how is best to strip them, to which colour to use to make the most of the space.

But what if they are not actually skirting boards but a simple plank of wood stuck on the wall… what if  beside them being are tatty or boring, the removing of carpets to expose lovely original floorboards has left an unsightly gap between base skirting board and the floor….

And what if you cannot afford new skirting boards because you have no budget to replace all the profiles… What if the thoughts of the upheaval of a long and disrupting building work is a  put off…

The list is long… 

Here is the good news: no need to compromise on style and design! With little budget, little effort and little time, there is a simple, quick, and affordable solution to improve the look of your room.

With a cheap and fast approach you can make board ugly ducklin

All you need is vision, some research in your local DIY store or timber merchant, simple timber profiles, nails, glue, hammer, saw and a mitre saw, paint and a paintbrush.

I will go through the method soon on a different post. It is easy to do for DIY enthusiasts and easy to implement by contractors.
